From hospitals and health professionals The questions/answers in this section are only opinions or guidelines and should not be taken as medical advice. The nurses must consider the medical condition and size of each patient when making decisions about the use of the Zaky.
1. Who created the Zaky?
A licensed professional engineer, with a PhD in industrial engineering with concentration in Human Factors and Ergonomics, and the mother of a preemie who was born weighing 906 grams and was hospitalized for 5 months invented the Zaky.
2. How long has the Zaky been used in hospitals?
The Zaky has been used in NICUs in the US for over 5 years, and after 3 years of research, development, and testing, company called Zakeez, Inc was founded to make the Zaky available to preemies and fulltime babies in hospitals, organizations, wholesale and retail worldwide.
3. Does Zakeez provide support on teaching the nurses/mothers how to use the Zaky?
Yes, we provide help online, in print, and in person. We have a section on our website on how to use the Zaky with preemies and how to use it with bigger babies. We also visit hospitals and talk to nurses, mothers, and other health professionals. Dr Jackson also visits hospitals to talk with the developmental professionals and train the nurses at different hospitals. Contact us with any requests, comments, or questions.
4. How was the Zaky developed, and what research has been done about it?
Before its release, the Zaky was under research, development and testing for three years using ergonomics and human factors principles and project management methodologies and tools.
Read about the project of developing the Zaky and the design considerations.
The Research Section gives information about the research performed during the verification and validation phase and that was presented at the XXVIII Annual International Occupational Ergonomics and Safety Conference in May 2004. Contact Us for more information. Currently, a hospital in Spain is doing more research about positioning the neonates with the Zaky.
